The verbal exchange between Cris Cyborg and Cat Zingano proved to be more competitive than their actual fight. In less than five minutes, Cyborg dominated Zingano to retain her women’s featherweight championship at Bellator 300.
For nearly two decades, Cyborg has been known as the most formidable woman in the world of mixed martial arts. At 38 years old, her strength and power were on full display as she effortlessly controlled Zingano, overpowering her with takedowns and powerful punches. Cyborg relentlessly attacked Zingano’s face, wearing down her confidence until she ultimately crumbled from the pressure.
The fight concluded when Cyborg delivered a well-timed counterpunch as Zingano attempted a takedown. Zingano tried to recover but quickly succumbed to Cyborg’s relentless hammer fists, prompting the referee to intervene.
After the fight, Cyborg attempted to show sportsmanship by embracing Zingano, but the fallen challenger was not receptive and scolded Cyborg. However, once the results were announced, Zingano applauded the champion and praised her. Cyborg acknowledged Zingano’s heart and then set her sights on Leah McCourt, who had upset Sara McMann earlier in the evening, as her next opponent. Cyborg also expressed her desire to compete in Japan before retiring. McCourt entered the cage, and the two fighters exchanged handshakes before facing off.
With this victory, Cyborg’s professional record stands at 27-2, with 1 no contest and 21 knockouts. She remains the only fighter in MMA history to win and successfully defend major world championships in multiple organizations, including UFC, Strikeforce, Invicta, and Bellator.
