Trainer Jose Benavidez Sr. revealed his desire to cancel the fight for his kid, Jose Jr., after Jermell Charlo stopped working to make weight for their co-feature fight set up for Saturday night.

Is Benavidez Sr. being hypocritical? Interestingly, Jose Sr. slammed the risk of Jermell being obese, however did not carry on when his other kid, David Benavidez, was available in over the limitation for a title defense in August 2020.

Benavidez ultimately went on with the fight, regardless of Charlo requiring to pay a weight charge for being available in over the limitation. Jose Sr. exposed that his kid still wished to continue with the fight in order to prevent sending out the message that he is tough to deal with if his challengers do not satisfy the weight requirement. He likewise highlighted that canceling the fight might harm his kid’s profession.

After Charlo was available in over the limitation once again, Jose Sr. revealed his annoyance, declaring it to be an unsafe scenario due to the substantial weight distinction. However, he did not make comparable problems when David Benavidez was over the limitation.

Despite his daddy’s recommendations to cancel the fight, Jose Jr. chosen to proceed with it and ideally will not lose out on future chances due to the situations.
