The legendary career of Fedor Emelianenko came to a brutal end at the hands of Ryan Bader in the Main Event of Saturday’s Bellator 290. A first round TKO saw Bader retain his heavyweight championship on the first mixed martial arts card aired on CBS since 2010. Emelianenko’s early right hand had little success before a Bader right hand sent him crashing to the canvas. Bader was now in control, Emelianenko was already bleeding from a cut on the bridge of his nose before the knockdown and the bleeding intensified as Bader continued to drop elbows, hammerfists, and punches. Eventually, Emelianenko was left with no choice but to cover up as Bader continued to fire away, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight at the 2:30 mark of Round 1.
