UFC news, rumors: Israel Adesanya confirms offer to face Dricus du Plessis as main event of UFC 300

The UFC 300 main event was originally planned to be Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill, but it wasn’t the promotion’s first choice. Dricus du Plessis and Israel Adesanya were also considered for the headline fight, but Du Plessis’ team declined the offer. Adesanya confirmed that he was preparing to fight Du Plessis, but the fight didn’t materialize.

Other potential fights for UFC 300 included Leon Edwards against Islam Makhachev, Khamzat Chimaev, and Shavkat Rakhmonov. Tom Aspinall claimed that Stipe Miocic turned down a fight with him, while Jon Jones declined a return due to injuries.

Although Pereira vs. Hill was always on the UFC’s radar, it was initially planned for a different card. Brian Ortega’s recent victory at UFC Fight Night marked his comeback after facing personal hardships. Ortega opened up about his struggles and how he overcame them through faith.

In a crossover event, Bellator fighters dominated PFL fighters in most matches, except for a bout where Renan Ferreira defeated Ryan Bader. Jack Hermansson’s victory over Joe Pyfer at UFC Fight Night halted the latter’s winning streak, while Nassourdine Imavov impressed in a middleweight bout against Roman Dolidze.
