Seven UFC 298 fighters flagged for rehydration issue

0

The UFC 298 card earlier this month saw several fighters regaining 15% or more of their weight from weigh-in day to fight day, prompting the California State Athletic Commission to consider changes to its regulations on dehydration and rehydration. Geoff Neal, who gained 18% of his weight, was the biggest offender on the card, while both main event fighters, Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria, were also over the 15% threshold. Topuria emerged victorious with a second-round knockout, claiming the UFC featherweight title. Other fighters who exceeded the 15% weight gain included Paulo Costa, Robert Whittaker, Carlos Vera, Merab Dvalishvili, and Danny Barlow. The CSAC will discuss these issues at their next meeting on Monday.
