The possibility of a fight between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg is being taken seriously, according to UFC president Dana White. The unconventional idea originated when Musk, CEO of Twitter, challenged the Facebook co-founder to a “cage match” on Wednesday. Zuckerberg responded on Instagram, a social media platform owned by Meta, and appeared to accept the challenge. White claims to have been in contact with both Musk and Zuckerberg regarding the proposed fight and confirms their genuine interest.

A spokesperson for Meta commented, “the story speaks for itself,” when asked about the fight. Musk, in response to a tweet about the story, suggested having the fight in a “Vegas Octagon,” referring to the official name of the UFC’s mixed martial arts cage. White believes the event could surpass the magnitude of the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight, generating tremendous revenue.

However, White’s apparent interest in the fight is ironic considering his recent criticism of boxing’s gimmicky matchups, such as Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz and the rumored Francis Ngannou vs. Deontay Wilder bout. In a May press conference, White expressed his commitment to staging fights featuring the best fighters in the world, rather than relying on publicity stunts.

Zuckerberg’s involvement in the MMA world has grown in recent times, with him attending UFC events and participating in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition as a martial arts enthusiast.
