Bellator MMA’s summer event lineup is gaining momentum. In June, Vadim Nemkov and Sergio Pettis successfully defended their titles, solidifying their positions as champions in their respective divisions. Nemkov showcased his skills against Yoel Romero to retain his light heavyweight title, while Pettis fended off Patricio Pitbull in his quest for a third division championship.
The excitement continues as Bellator heads to the Far East. The promotion will be returning to Japan for Bellator vs. Rizin 2 this summer. The event will feature multiple crossover bouts, including the highly anticipated main event between AJ McKee and Patricky Pitbull in a quarterfinal matchup of the Lightweight World Grand Prix. The McKee and Pitbull families still harbor animosity after their split series at featherweight. Additionally, Kyoji Horiguchi will face Makoto Shinryu to determine the inaugural flyweight champion.
Three months later, Fabian Edwards, the brother of UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, aims to add another victory to his family’s legacy. After a unanimous decision win over former middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi, Fabian Edwards is set to challenge Johnny Eblen for the title at Bellator Dublin on September 23 in Ireland.
