2023 UFC event schedule: Grant Dawson vs. Bobby Green, Islam Makhachev vs. Charles Oliveira 2 on tap

The UFC is taking a brief hiatus before coming back to the UFC Apex in Las Vegas for an upcoming Fight Night event on October 7th. Leading the card will be the matchup between Grant Dawson and Bobby Green.

While Dawson vs. Green may not be the most thrilling fight on television, Dawson, ranked No. 10 in the UFC lightweight division, has proven himself as a formidable submission threat with strong ground control. Although a fight against the charismatic fan-favorite Green may generate some fan excitement, it may not significantly impact Dawson’s standing in the division. Green is coming off a technical submission win over former interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson, who has unfortunately lost six consecutive fights.

Following that lackluster Fight Night event, the UFC will return to the Apex the following week with another underwhelming card headlined by Sodiq Yusuff vs. Edson Barboza. However, things start to heat up afterwards when the promotion heads to Abu Dhabi for UFC 294 on October 21st. This pay-per-view event will feature a highly anticipated rematch for the UFC lightweight title between Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira. Additionally, the event will showcase an exciting middleweight fight between Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev.
